Traveling on to Thailand

 It made sense to me at the time to combine the Nepal/Bhutan trip with a trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand.  Afterall I had already invested in the plane ticket and Thailand isn't that far away from Bhutan.  Two little flights, Paro to Bangkok then onward to Chiang Mai.  Easy.  I had sent clothes home with my husband that I wouldn't need for the next week.

So, off I go on an extended adventure to the northern part of Thailand.  This will be fun!

Tomorrow: Some temples, rain, and a little kick boxing

 Since this was the first day of the workshop we had the morning to sleep in and acclimate to a much warmer and humid climate.  I really needed this time to regroup. We started off our day with a quick review of the photos that people had taken preworkshop mainly at the Lantern Festival , which I missed because we were finishing up the previous trip.  The picture were great and I was sorry we missed it but perhaps another time. We went to lunch at a lovely little restaurant that actually looked a little Dutch but it was definitely Thai.  I had Pad Thai, naturally, but also sampled many other dishes too. We would visit many temples over the course of the week.  Thailand is almost 100% Buddhist.  There's lots of Buddhist statutes in of various forms along with Ghanish.  The first temple we visited was almost entirely hammered aluminum.  You could hear people working with hammers surrounding the temple.
